1. What is “payment in advance”?
In Montgenèvre, Alto.Ski works with a prepaid (pay in advance) system:
You choose your ticket type and dates in the app.
You pay in advance for your lift pass.
Your ticket is then loaded onto a ski card (Alto.Ski card or any compatible RFID card (eg. Montgenevre card).
You go straight to the lifts – no need to visit the ticket office.
👉 Unlike “pay as you go” resorts (e.g. Madonna di Campiglio, Livigno), in Montgenèvre you prepay your pass.
2. Which passes are available in Montgenèvre?
In the Alto.Ski app for Montgenèvre you’ll typically find:
Day Pass
With a J-2 discount when purchased at least 2 days before you ski.
6–13 day consecutive passes
Ideal for full-week or longer stays.
All available ticket types, dates and prices are shown in the app on the Montgenèvre resort page.
3. Before you start
To use payment in advance in Montgenèvre, you’ll need:
The Alto.Ski app (iOS or Android)
An Alto.Ski card or any compatible RFID ski card
A payment card (credit or debit) to pay for your pass
Using an Alto.Ski card
If you already have an Alto.Ski card, you can activate it in the app.
If not, you can order cards in the app (for home delivery) or ask your hotel if they have Alto.Ski cards available for you on arrival (only Alto.Ski partner resorts).
Using another compatible RFID card
If you have a ski card from a previous season from a compatible Skidata/Axess resort, you can usually re-use it:
Open the Alto.Ski app
Go to “Add existing card”
Tap “Read NFC” / “Read via NFC”
Hold the card to the back of your phone
If the card shows as ACTIVE, you can use it and load tickets on it
If the card does not show as active or cannot be read, please contact our Helpdesk in the app.

Once confirmed, your pass is linked to your card for the selected dates and visible on the home page.
5. On the day – going to the slopes
On your first ski day:
Check in the app that your card status is ACTIVE and the ticket is visible in home page.
Simply go to the ski lifts and pass the card at the gate.
You DO NOT need to visit the ticket office if your card is already active.
If the gates do not open, check:
That you are in Montgenèvre,
That the dates of your pass match the day,
That the card in the app matches the card you are using at the gate.
If you still have issues, please contact our Helpdesk from the app.
6. Changes, cancellations and refunds
Because Montgenèvre uses prepaid passes, changes and refunds are subject to the resort’s terms and conditions. In general:
Once a ticket has been used at the gates, it is usually not refundable.
If you made a mistake with dates or names, contact us via the in-app Helpdesk as soon as possible and we’ll check what is possible with the resort.
We cannot guarantee changes or refunds, but we will always do our best to help within the rules set by Montgenèvre.
